about

This was the first song written for the album, I think early 2003. It's the ongoing theme of how we are always striving for more or needing to keep up with some unattainable goal. Maybe it's part of our human condition to never be satisfied, always looking for something more. Sometimes this striving only clouds the simplicity of what we already have. Noise and simple melody are used to represent that dichotomy. Synesthesia Color: light blue

lyrics

She is distracted
A chorus of speakers blares sharp tremolo
Can't see her savior through clouds of starlings
that don't know where to go

But that's alright we love you
Well that's alright we care
Well turn out the light we love you

"I am a queen and no one listens"
Was tattooed on her knees
Crawling through pools of desperate salmon
that die to get up stream

Well rest your head little darling, sleep
The day is over so let it go
Don't carry that weight
So rest your head little darling, sleep
The day is over so let it go
Now she's gone off parading
It’s intoxicating to belong
We sit at night and wonder if she still hears her bedtime song
