about

I asked my brother Greg to write some lyrics to this tune. I wanted to write a "Pop" song in which the verse, chorus and bridge, although all the same tempo, have different feels. I made a couple drum loops to play along with the real drums. One of the loops is from Betty Carter's version of Open The Door and another is David Bowie's 5 Years.

lyrics

Where are you, Mister Greenlight
One more mile, one more mile
Only you, can write this song
Make me smile, make me smile
Maybe you should say hello
It's not wrong, it's not wrong
If you must wait for someone
Don't be long, don't be long

Do you still know the way to my sunshine, my lovely yellow sunshine
I know you can help me with all my long days and all the words I can never find

I regret waiting so long
The light is almost gone
Where are you Mister Greenlight
One more mile, one more mile
Visit me without calling
Come to me for awhile
Visit me in the morning
Make me smile, make me smile

Hey, look up on the rooftop
Six birds on a wire
lucky me feeding the fire
trying to go higher

Where are you Mister Greenlight
Make me smile, make me smile
